Ball Cage is a centering part of mold, it is made of brass, aluminium, copper or plastic. It consists of steel balls placed at holes on it. Ball cages have properties as low friction, long service life, high speed, radial and linear working ability. It causes no problem because of warming at high speeds.
Ball Cages ( Ball Bearings ) are used as guiding part in pres and injection molds or precise guiding elements at pushing plates. Placing steel balls with certain angle and frequency and contacting to guide bush directly high precision is obtained.
Ball cages have low friction resistance according to other bushes operated, can move radial and linear, can work with high speed and precision, can be made by flexible production according to customer inquiry, because of minimum surface contact , it has minimum sound level, erosion and damage. At the other bushes, because of serial production, mold burrs and the high heat cause deformation on pillar’s surface thats why during production, frequently operator stops production, maintenance and lubrication is done. So guide column’s and bush’s lifetime decrease. But there is no need to lubricate this much for ball cages ,they work at high speeds without deformation and heat.
The tolerance of elements for centering should be constricted and compatible with the pillars. Also about ball cage systems for long lifetime and erosion resistant, surface roughness values should be emphasized carefully. Low value surface roughness extend life of part, increase resistant of corrosion and decrease friction to very low levels, finally excellent operating conditions can be reached.
